Why do we support Starbucks by serving their coffee  at most CG events and classes? 3 reasons. First, Starbucks is the most popular coffee on the planet, and we want to serve what you all will enjoy. Second, we did our homework and Starbucks is a great company. Third, Starbucks is simply great tasting coffee. We have many coffee lovers at CG and they are all Starbucks enthusiast!  Below are just of a few examples of Starbucks efforts. You can find more information at www.starbucks.com

The Starbucks Foundation - Created in 1997, The mission: to create hope, discovery and opportunity in communities where Starbucks partners (employees) live and work. Since then the Starbucks Foundation has maintained a focus on improving young peoples? lives by supporting literacy programs for children and families. To date, the Foundation has provided over $12 million to more than 700 youth focused organizations in the United States and Canada.

Literacy - Jumpstart was founded in 1993 on the belief that early education is the best investment citizens and government can make in the future success of our nation. Today, this national non-profit organization works with more than 8,000 preschool children in 24 states and Washington, DC. Starbucks became Jumpstart?s Official Growth Partner in 2001 in support of Jumpstart?s mission to work toward the day when every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Since that time, Jumpstart has tripled in size and has become one of the fastest growing non-profits in America. In 2005, The Starbucks Foundation renewed its commitment to Jumpstart and to literacy with a $1.5 million donation over three years.

Neighborhood Beatification - We look at parks a lot like our coffee shops. Comfy places where everyone in the community can come together and relax. Which is why we established the Starbucks Neighborhood Parks Program in 2000. Since then, we?ve committed over $2 million dollars and countless hours of peoplepower to help support parks in Washington state?s King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. And that kind of investment makes for some mighty fine swing sets.

Community Support - Spirit of partners(employees)! We have many programs that encourage and support partners(employees) to make a difference in their local communities. Through "Make Your Mark", Starbucks matches partner and customer volunteer hours with cash contributions to nonprofit organizations. Partners are also able to contribute to the CUP (Caring Unites Partners) Fund, a financial assistance program to help other partners in need. In addition, we provide product donations to local organizations where our partners volunteer.

The Environment - From Bean to Cup Starbucks environment efforts are visible throughout our supply chain, from working with farmers to preserving the natural environment in places where coffee is grown to recycling coffee grounds into nutrient-rich soil amendment.

US Military Support - Starbucks and its partners have consistently demonstrated their support of military personnel in a number of ways. Each week Starbucks partners(employees) receive one free pound of coffee. On an individual, grass roots level, many partners in the U. S. have collected their free coffee and shipped numerous pounds of Starbucks coffee overseas. Partners in our Atascadero store sent their personal weekly allotment of coffee to troops in so they would be able to enjoy a little taste of home. Our customer relations department in Seattle donated hundreds of pounds of coffee to the sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier. Many members of the Armed Forces are employed with Starbucks and recieve support through continued medical coverage during tours of duty and remain a partner until their return.

Water - Five cents from the sale of each bottle of Ethos Water? Water will support Starbucks goal of donating $10 million over the next five years to non-profit organizations that are helping to alleviate the world water crisis.Currently, more than 1 billion people worldwide, or 20 percent of the world?s population, lack access to clean drinking water. By purchasing Ethos? Water, customers can be part of a unique opportunity to help make a difference. www.ethoswater.com
